4 Steps to Tasty Trail Mix
The only ingredient should be the nut itself, not sugar, vegetable oil, and salt!
I use 1/2 cup of each as the base of my trail mix.
Today I used 1/2 cup of dried cherries to finish off the bag, instead of 1/4 cup of each.
Other options are another kind of dried fruit like pineapple, organic cacao nibs, or good old fashioned raisins. Steer clear of the M&Ms and salted nuts and seeds when you can. This makes a big difference!
Remember snacking is our friend, saving us from eating a sky rocket amount of sodium and food cooked or fried in unhealthy oils from fast food restaurants.
I am not saying to eat this all in the course of one day, or even 2 or 3. This trail mix is made of high fat, high fiber foods, making it the perfect snack to keep you feeling full with just a couple handfuls. This bag with 1 cup of nuts, 1/2 cup of seeds, 1/2 cup of dried fruit, and 1/4 cup of coconut should last me at least a week.
Happy Trail Mixing,
Leighann
